Credit Cards Rejected

Dreamed that Y and I went to get dinner somewhere. For some reason we had to pay multiple times. Then we went to a nearby grocery store to pick up snacks. At the checkout (which was at a window/counter rather than an aisle, we were each trying to pay a balding man with a red beard. Our credit cards were both being rejected, even though we used them to pay at the restaurant. We both asked him to try it again. The people in line behind us were impatient. The guy behind the counter had to run across the parking lot to try mine for some reason. It was raining and he got wet. Y disappeared somewhere, I’m not sure where. The people behind me were getting quite impatient. The woman behind me offered to pay my bill with cash. I explained that I had cash and could pay for it. The guy returned and said “Yeah, we’re not going to accept this” (referring to my credit card). He then said “Your friend has the right idea trying to call it in” (referring to Y). I then asked if I could pay in cash and he said yes. Then, alarm went off.
